One possibility, that may become more important should the number of batch features grow, is to have check boxes along with just a letter or abbreviation of what one may want to do with a message (say file, keep, even reply would be a good option in case one wants to give one answer to several posts). At the end of the page, or perhaps once one is done reading all messages, we can click on a button that would batch apply the action to the marked messages.
