The GSEs are not guaranteed by the taxpayers; isn't that the point of what Treasury and the Fed have been saying all these years. As for banning aliens from getting mortgages, I guess we're all capitalist free market proponents until it offends our sensibilities. What's next, no small business loans to abortionists; no credit cards for evangelicals?

I now get the feeling this ownership society, illegal immigration and push to bring more Chinese and Indians into the middle class is all part of the grand scheme to continue growing the economy and create more consumers across the country and across the globe. This is perhaps the best way out of this mess short of depression and debt cleansing that Mish says is inevitable<g>.
