A near term catalyst : The US bankruptcy law for both corporatiions and individuals changes October 17, 2005 to a much different and tougher set of rules.

Two airlines are expected to file before that date. I expect a number of individuals and corporations will file also.

Many corporate executives and lawyers will be on vacation until just after the US Labor Day holiday (September 5), so there should be a number of BK filings in the weeks after that day.

October is a traditional panic /bottoming month. Open end Mutual funds try to finish thier selling before the end of October becasue of their accounting rules.

We might also see maximum concern about winter natural gas prices around then. That may not be the price maximum, however.
