Well, maybe you are a schmuck. That's a calculation I can't make for you.

I can tell you that if the Native Americans had their own version of INS, there would not have been a United States.

I can also tell you that trying to close the immigration door after you've already gone through it is as predictable as snow in the winter and green leaves in the spring.

You have a security and "insurance" that the illegals don't have. Some gung-ho INS chap isn't going to cuff you into a van tomorrow morning. He may not put the illegals in one either, but when they go to bed tonight, they're not entirely sure. Maybe the next day, who knows?

I can not understand what benefit I got by taking the legal route, to become a naturalized citizen.

You came. You worked. You got paid. You lived free. You voted. You left on your own.

America is all about Life, Liberty and The Pursuit of Happiness. You received an opportunity to pursue the dream and threw it away.

I don't believe you are entitled to any additional benefit.

Perhaps I am a shmuck.
Perhaps you are.

You and me both, judging by the some of the comments of some of the supposedly law-abiding denizens of this thread. I've never hired an illegal alien, never done business with contractors who knowingly hire illegal aliens, and never paid under-the-table cash to aid and abet someone avoiding their legal duty to report income. And I've never had to game the system to avoid paying for tickets for excessive speed.

I have noticed over the years that a lot of people like to think this or that law doesn't apply to them for this or that reason (usually involving money and convenience) but it sure ought to be followed by everyone else.
