This is another reason why converting Muslims is so hard. Islam is deeply woven into the fabric of their society. The above statement however is not completely accurate. Koran is more or less an ink blot; you see in it what you want to see. But Koran is not the only source of Islam. More than 80% of Islam comes from other texts that either directly differ to traditions, sayings of Mohammed, or interpretations of them. This is one of the reasons why the differences between Shia and Sunni are a lot deeper than they seem on the surface. For example, Shia explicitly forbid waging Jihad. Sunnis do not.
