There seems to be a lot of blind patriotism at SI these days. Or perhaps there always was. It is something I like to speak out against, always. I have no personal opinion about whether that is a description that fits you.

Would people at Feelies be interested in reading about atrocities committed by the Boers or the Serbs? No one ever seems to be very interested in these subjects, but the U.S. government and U.S. history seem to be generally compelling subjects for discussion. Also, posts about things that everyone already knows to be true--atrocities by our enemies, for example--just aren't as fascinating to me as finding out about new thing--atrocities by ourselves, for instance.

Feelies is not one discussion particularly. One of the reasons I like it is that it is a very wide sharing of ideas, and really all subjects are welcome as long as the TOU are observed. A lot of people accuse me of being too narrowly focused on vegan and animal rights issues. I could post more of those articles all day and all night, but I don't want to bore everyone. Certainly a news story about a new book is generally an acceptable thing to discuss here. To me almost anything is relevant.
