This bio of Soros shows that leftwingers attack him for his pro-capitalist ways. He is attacked from all sides by many special interests. So clearly he is no liberal, at least not in any typical sense. In some ways he's the opposite of a liberal.

He is an independent pragmatist thinker and expert worldview philosopher who has proven his wisdom by correctly betting massive amounts on currency flucuations. Apparently, the rightwing had no problem with Soros until he decided Bush had to be defeated and spent a small part of his enormous fortune to try and balance out the huge corporate money on Bush's side. Clearly, Soros sees Bush as a dishonest crook with unsound ideas and he is being proven correct.

His "insider trading" is a tiny deal for him. GW Bush insider traded his entire fortune at Harken Energy. Ironically it was Soros who was the victim of GW's scam by being the buyer of his stock.
