No economy is sustainable spending 25% more than it takes in every year. Simple math. You can get away with it for about 2-3 years, then your markers start getting called. Bush inherited such a rich economy that maybe he can stretch that to 4-5 years, but then the caca will be hitting the fanola. Somebody has to start paying. We're on track to build up several trillion in new debt during GW's years. And mostly it's because Bush doesn't want to make the rich pay for anything.

I heard the average family now has $9000 credit card debt, plus in places like California the cost of housing is approaching 50% of peoples' total income. Plus millions now have ARMS loans which are interest only and the principal debt sits there untouched. All this is unsustainable. Also, there's always a recession after a war and we need this war to end.
