I'm not the one who can't google up the ACLU website, thank you.

But my perception of the word "head" when it comes to an organization is not the "Executive Director."

"Head" means the person who calls the shots, sets the direction, personally can make policy.

When the ACLU was founded decades ago, it had a head, Roger Nash Baldwin.

Now, it's got a board of directors.

I guess you could say that the President, Nadine Strosser, is the "head" but she seems to me to be a spokesperson, not personally in charge of policy. KLP's question seemed to me to be directed towards "who's calling the shots?" "who makes policy?" "who picks the cases, and why?"
