re:So how many sheriffs or deputies, from how many counties in how many states whose opinion support assault weapons have you sampled, and what % of the total population of police departments does it represent?

30-40 cops from across oregon, washington and california - about 90% say the ban didn't do anything. They also point out the AW (or rifle) is rarely used anyway, it's handguns they usually encounter - which makes sense because you want to conceal the weapon until you're ready to commit the crime.

Then we need to ban all guns. Thanks for making that clear.

The BIG police departments weigh in heavily on the side of the law. Wonder why?

What's the primary purpose of an automatic weapon? Please don't point out the imperfections in the current law when you reply.
