Most people and all objective data disagree with you. My 1987 Nissan Pathfinder has 4wd low and can lock all wheels - those are old technology. Jeeps are only mediorcre compared to the Japanese competition. From the sound of it, you've never owned a Japanese offroad vehicle, so, you have no real basis of comparison. I've owned a Jeep, American cars and trucks, German cars and Japanese cars and trucks. The Japanese make the highest quality vehicles today.

The Ford Expedition has 4wd low and very high clearance. (the Ford Excursion was listed twice in JCP's post, but I think that was a typo?)

Don't know about "departure angle" or "control arms".....would be interested though......but it's a heck of an off road vehicle, and incredible in the snow, as long as you aren't trying to navigate an overgrown tunnel that would scratch the paint job. -gg-
