"the country had to fend for itself as so-called democracy rapidly became the tyranny of the majority"

I like that statement. Maybe that is in store for the US too once more people begin to suffer under King George's rule. Maybe there is a light at the long end of this tunnel for real democracy for America.

I guess you saw that Netanyahu quit because Sharon is moving some settlers. He is probably positioning himself for another run at Prime Minister if that is possible. It is hard for me to judge just how many Israelis are still leaning in that direction. The peaceniks may win out because the majority are tired of being car bombed.

Re: ...and the country had to fend for itself as so-called democracy rapidly became the tyranny of the majority. Today, the whites, as a group, have no political power whatsoever in a completely black-run country.

But what's political power without economical power? Who runs De Beers?(*) Who owns most of SA's farmlands? Banks?

As for Israel, it faces a simple choice: the Algerian scenario or the South African one... The former is obviously the worst one --the suitcase or the coffin. All of Algeria's one million Pieds Noirs left independent Algeria in 1962. Contrariwise, most whites remained in South Africa and adapted to the new black regime.
