I would be infuriatingly frustrated beyond belief without broadband.

I understand. I feel the same way. Today, I closed on a rental apartment, all done thru the net - initial contact with the landlady by email, got the lockbox combo by email, looked at the property, sent email back with my credentials, initial payment by wire transfer, have an apartment to move into next weekend.

But I would be infuriatingly frustrated beyond belief without broadband.

I'm beginning to wonder if I don't just have better dial-up service than the rest of you experienced. To get to the page I'm on right now, the one for replying to your message, took barely one second. One Mississip--. No more. I can't comprehend getting frustrated over a one second wait. So perhaps the waits you used to experience using dial-up were longer and that explains our disparate reactions.

EDIT: Getting to the preview page for this response and then posting it each took well under a second as did the click to write this edit. I don't think of myself as a particularly patient person, but one second doesn't tax my patience at all.
