I can only wire to and from my own accounts. For example, from my online stock brokerage account to my checking accounts. I've never come across a situation where you could wire money to another person's account.

yes u do need the routing/SWIFT # (for international wire transfer) & ac #. I am able to do it between my Aus & US accounts at ease, with no interaction with a human, and with no regard to time zone differences. All I need is access to the net.
