That was great, krugman is really trying to do a one man fight against this administration it seems. HIs claims that Bush and friends are just taking care of thier own in this new "political machine" age has lots of merit = more proof:

sptimes.com

"The President intends to nominate Alfred Hoffman, Jr., of Florida, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Portugal." That's how the White House recently announced its choice of ambassador-to-be Hoffman, whose WCI Communities business is a big builder of swank coastline towers for rich retirees. Oh yes, Hoffman also served as finance chairman for the Republican National Committee. He headed President Bush's fundraising effort in 2000 in Florida, plus Gov. Jeb Bush's fundraising in 2002. Hoffman's appointment must be approved by Congress.

After dropping like a rock in late 2002, WCI's stock roared back and now trades at more than $30 a share. Now Hoffman, WCI's chairman, can enjoy Portugal with little business worries back in the Sunshine State.
