I first appeared to SI in 1996 - I don't remember you in any of my discussions with fine folks at kim and friends, tokyo joe, athony at pacific, riley G and pugs, 2mars, $mogul, bald man from mars - monsieur gonzo, ellen (god rest her soul) oh my the list goes on and on. Where were you posting back in 1996? hehe I think I remember you from one thread.

You don't like some of the things I say about our current culture - but that is OK, you don't always get what you like in life - hehe. I met this girl once in Valdosta, Ga, farm girl, working as a waitress, I had just come back from Miami, I asked her if she wanted to come with me to look at this house there - she said yah = she wanted to be a NY interior designer = I said why not miami - she said I cant make the bucks there like I can in NY. I let her help out some in Miami, this was like 5 years ago. Anyways I asked her what about kids, she said she had no time for that crap = when did picking out fashionable rugs and counter tops and paint colors take precedence for this farm girl over making new economic units? She went on to NY, chased her degree, I don't know if she got it or worked in the interior design profession - but I did see her back in Valdosta, ga with 2 kids at the mall one day - I was happy - one less interior designer ayn rand type, one more mother. Chalk one up for the bush evangelical team - hehe.

When I read herman melville fell out of favor with victorian society and was lost for a time to history, I think of people like you back then, but it is OK, time heals all wounds. hehe
