My computer is four years old. It came with ME installed and I haven't migrated to XP. But then I don't think my operating system was your question.

Re downloading service packs, I do that kind of downloading in background. It really doesn't matter how long it takes if you're not held up by the slowness of the process. It's not like service packs need to be installed immediately.

Google Earth is mega-cool beans, but I can't think of anything to do with it other than have fun.

C-SPAN on line is nice, too.

But probably my biggest use of broadband qua broadband is watching movie trailers. Now, that's cool.

I also like to listen to music on Internet radio.

Well, there are also the things I don't actually notice, like installing upgrades to my OS and virus program in the background. McAfee seems to upgrade every day, and all I notice is a little popup window that tells me when it's done.

We bought a wireless router since both me and Ben use laptops that have wireless but we're too lazy to install it! That might get Kholt's attention, she uses a laptop.
