I totally support the peace marchers at Bush's ranch in Texas, Suma, especially the Veterans for Peace group that just finished holding its convention. Thank you for the post about how to be in solidarity with them.

I am kind of tentative about Cindy Sheehan, though, because she made remarks to the Vacaville Reporter about meeting with the president after her son died in Iraq that contradict in some ways what she is saying now. As big a doofus as Bush is, it is hard for me to imagine him acting crass and insensitive when he is meeting with the families of dead soldiers--I just don't see him as capable of that kind of evil on that subject (other subjects, yes). I am waiting for reporters to get to the bottom of her contradictions. I accept that this is probably a far right smear attempt on these anti-war protestors, but still something doesn't quite jell with this woman's account. The integrity of the anti-war movement spokespeople needs to be beyond reproach, because they will be attacked mercilessly. What a world we live in! You can read about that here:

Robin Cooke died of a heart attack climbing a mountain in Scotland with his wife while on vacation, at the age of 59. To me, that is a really good death. He was very brave in going against Tony Blair on Iraq, and was a very decent man.
