R2O, RE: I would think that stock option expense, being a 'real expense', should be deductible as an expense, reducing taxable income.


Stock option expense does reduce taxable income, and thus taxes. It has been that way for many years.

Don't confuse taxable income with GAAP income.

Assuming you mean sold to an employee, I believe their is no expense.
