The theory of natural selection makes a lot of sense and explains an awful lot even if it doesn't explain everything that exists.

That's true of all theories in Science. They explain what they can, and leave the rest to be found. They don't go ahead and give a mystical answer for what they don't know.

For example, Newton's theory of gravity tells you how it works. But it doesn't tell you what gravity IS.
