I think many countries have always had a lot of ambivalence about the use of those weapons by the US. We are often taught in this country that there was no other decision possible, but there are always other possible choices, and there's no way of knowing if we made the right choice. Since we set a dangerous precedent for the use of these weapons, I think just based on that you can argue it was a very unwise decision. As this poll shows, Americans are not in accord with the Japanese on this issue, and I'd be willing to bet many other countries also disagree with the US belief.
