That's the way it should be I certainly agree. Personally I am convinced though that much of the hostility to mentioning ID is because of the potential religious implications. The Big Bang theory was resisted for a long time for the same reason. As I see it the credentials of the ID folks (Behe, Schroeder, Dembski) are as good as say, Richard Dawkins.

BTW Discover magazine has an article on Dawkins this month. He's the most prolific writer neo-darwinian writer and a militant atheist who has a problem with scientists (or anyone else) being religious.
