And don't forget you can order takeout on your TV. All you have to do is get out of bed to answer the door. :>)

I do that now on the internet. Gee it's tough to have to get up and answer the door...

I'm skittish about a cable box. I had a devil of a time getting my DVR, TV, and two VCRs to work right. I have compound splitters and wires galore. I hate to touch anything if I don't have to.

If all I have to do with the cable control is turn the cable on and off, I can live with that. And if the cable box sits inline between my cable and my DVR and I can leave everything else downstream the same, I'm cool. I can deal with one more remote control and one more step. But my trust level that it's that easy is low.

I'll look into all of this again when I get a new computer which may be soon or it may be another year. I really don't NEED a new computer any more than I NEED broadband. If I do it now, besides getting the router, I have to add equipment to my computer to talk to the router. It all seems like just too much trouble. I'm so lazy that I'm in the process of acquiring a maid. I let mine go when I retired figuring I couldn't justify it when I'm home all day. Yep, that worked really well--for the proliferation of dust bunnies. I've got twentieth generation dust bunnies by now.
