A 501(c)(3) organization can't endorse any candidate. They can engage in non-partisan political activity. If they get involved in partisan politics, they lose their tax exempt status.

Because of this, I never could figure out how Clinton, and Gore, could go to the Black churches and give speeches on who to vote for....ditto the Ministers of the church, including guest Ministers aka Sharpton and JJ....
