Around here, they're not so much a problem if they stay in the right-side lane. But some of them have the "FastTrack" bridge toll commute passes fastened to their antlers, then they get in the left carpool lanes and all hell breaks loose. On the other hand (with some initiative and defensive driving skills), one can pick up dinner on the way home during rush hour. "I understand up north Deer are a problem?"

new jersey is going to have a six day black bear hunting season. Black bear getting to be big time problem.. est. thousands of them. deer.. hundreds of thousands we should be able to kill them year round.

JDN, when a domesticated animal, like those pigs used to be, get out in the wild, they do not obey the laws of nature, and are a problem. It is the fault of humans that they become a nuisance, but they do need to be controlled. What I am opposed to, is the killing of animals for the sole reason of making life easier for humans. Just plowing up the land, and cutting down the trees, in any state, is taking away the habitat of animals that have been in that area for thousands of years. I am opposed to killing an alligator just to get some boots, belts, wallets, purses, and shoes, from their hides, and let the rest of the animal just go to waste. I can understand killing a deer for it's meat, and then if that hunter wants to mount the rack, that is AOK, but when a "so called" hunter shoots a deer, mounts the rack, and lets all of the meat rot while he thumps his chest and says; "What a great hunter am I" he is as greedy as the wild hogs. Unfortunately, it is not unusual for humans to kill animals for the wrong reasons. Gen. Sherman ordered the killing of all buffalo, mainly to starve out the Indians, and in a minor sense, feed the people that were laying track for the Union Pacific RR, and an animal healthier to eat than an Angus steer was almost made extinct. The buffalo hunters shot down millions of them, took the hides to sell, and sometimes the horns for the same reason, and left all of the meat to rot on the prairie. I consider that to be criminal.
