HOA HAO, First I would ask, who's fault is it for the car crashes? A careful driver will not hit a deer, even in his headlights. Hunting is OK with me if it is for the purpose of getting meat. It is the trophy hunters that I have a problem with. If more people would eat deer meat, there would be fewer ticks, and less devastation of plant life needed by the other species. If the meat is donated, then a good service has come from the hunt, and I also agree with you on that. It seems like someone would come up with the idea of hunting to get meat to sell to people that need a less expensive source of protein. That would make sense to me, but the government inspectors would have a hissy fit.

I am not against hunting for a purpose other than trophy gathering. Every young man should learn the right way to handle a gun, and be able to hit what he aims at, for more reasons than hunting. There may come a time when men will have to hunt for food again, and without preparation, families will be doomed. There may also come a time when a man has to defend his family, and property from anarchy.

Bow hunting is very hard, but there should be a test before a bow license is issued. Maybe there already is, but when I hunted, there were too many animals wounded that disappeared into the brush because the archer didn't know what he was doing. I practiced, but was not good enough with a bow, so stayed with my 308 for the limited time that I hunted. At that time, it was easier, and cheaper, to buy beef at the supermarket, than paying for part of a deer lease, travel there, buy the license, and all the other expenses of a hunting excursion.
