For some reason I don't understand, liberals think a free press that leans the news is sufficient.
Conservatives prefer to hear the whole story and apply their own interpretation and evaluation.

Hi, Mike. Quite the sermon. The good guys, the white hats, are all on the right; the bad guys, in the black hats, are all on the left. Us/them kind of political stuff.

I assume you know that I don't agree. In our present political culture, the conservatives are the ideologically dogmatic kind--made a religion out of laissez faire, a religion out of taking choice away from women, a religion out of putting guns in the hands of everyone (not two chickens in the pot, but two guns in the bedroom)--and concluding those who didn't agree with them were somehow morally deficient. Classic us/them demonization stuff. I gather you think Ann Coulter's defamation stuff is just fine. Makes my point.

At the moment, and it could well change, everything to the left of the Bushies is much more pragmatic.

Democratic leadership is beginning to recognize and speak out in the press about the lack of vision, the lack of a unified message, and the lack of goals within the party.

That's generally from the left of the party, deploring the "triangulation" politics of the Clinton folk. You'll hear more.
