Hide your head in the sand if you wish. When you see polls showing opposition to the Iraq War at 2 to 1, people worried about such things as healthcare, the Republicans in control for over a decade running huge deficits and handing out the pork like there's no tomorrow, you have to seriously wonder if they will lose seats at the 2006 elections?!?

On economic policies, the Republicans now have a hard time distinguishing themselves from Democrats. Remember when the Rs chided the Ds for pork barrel spending and deficits? Well, now that doesn't matter anymore, because we all know the Rs can spend just as much and even more than the Ds. So, it is other issues that motivate people to vote. If the Rs can't motivate people with social issues, then the Ds might just make major gains at the polls.
