Removing saddam was about who controls the oil not only in iraq but in the entire mideast and the wrapper was Wilsonian democracy for the arabs and portable wmds. Iraq seemed like low hanging fruit at the time compared to lets say iran or NK.
The wilsonian & wmd wrappers have come apart and oil isnt pretty enough to use as the reason so we have these Ground Hog day arguments where the words and arguments repeat and repeat.
