Dunno.

Have you ever been to a birthday party and found that someone in the group couldn't carry a tune but still sang really loudly? Would you consider it elitist to want to avoid that? To maybe roll your eyes? To feel embarrassed for the person? Would that be considered elitist? I don't think that term fits, but maybe. I can carry a tune, more or less, but I have an unattractive voice. So I sing quietly. I wish others would better recognize when they are out of their element.
