Well, it should be up to each country to determine what kind of government they want. The fact is Chile had the longest standing democratic tradition in Latin America, nearly a century in the making, until we stuck our noses in their business and deposed the duly elected leader in a bloody coup on 9/11/1973. Iran and Guatemala both had newly established democratically elected government that we saw fit to do away with and replace with dictators who did not hold an election for decades and pursed policies of repression and torture. We sure did their people a big favor, not!
