I'd have to look but I suspect his bond holdings did him well.
One thing he did do is avoid the 2000 crash...he said he didn't invest in tech because he didn't understand it.
I remember the tradelites of the day laughing at him because he hadn't taken advantage of all the easy money made in tech stocks. A couple years later the new money was gone and old Warren was looking pretty good again.
