Well, right now the US uses about 4X the barrels a day that China uses. If we had an energy bill that actually did something about efficiency and conservation, the decrease in US usage could probably offset the growth from China and India (or at least mitigate it). But that's just a fantasy, now.

With 25% of the world's oil consumption we are the problem. And the US becoming more efficient is likely the only solution. And since it ain't gonna happen, a lot of bad things will follow.
