MDI Security Systems' iTRUST(TM) Small Business Solution Named 2005 Security Technology of the Year by Secure Convergence Journal
Thursday August 11, 1:41 pm ET
Security Solutions, Inc. Deploys the Award-Winning iTRUST Software and DDCII IP-based Hardware for City of Raleigh Security Project

SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 11, 2005-- MDI Security Systems, the foundation of MDI, Inc. (NASDAQ:MDII - News), a recognized leader in delivering open, integrated security management and video security solutions, today announced that the company has received the 2005 Security Technology Product Award from Secure Convergence Journal (SCJ) for its iTRUST integrated security management solution for entry-level systems. This marks the company's second security technology award from a national security industry publication in the past year.

SCJ addresses a unique niche in the market by combining the challenges encountered by both physical and logical security industry decision-makers, dealers and integrators. The publication covers a diverse range of topics including the convergence of cyber and physical security, risk management, computer viruses, digital forensics, wireless security, biometrics, access control, video surveillance and systems management.

According to the SCJ awards committee, the publication's judges chose iTRUST based on its intelligence "at-the-door" technology. Comparing it to a firewall (IT security) appliance solution, which provides proactive protection to a corporate network, iTRUST's IP-based DDCII Hardware provides the industry's most powerful intrusion protection at-the-door, which is the physical entry-point to any type of facility. Just as in the IT world, a facility's own doors are its most vulnerable points of penetration by a malicious threat.

iTRUST was developed for entry-level commercial and small to mid-sized government systems, and is based on MDI's enterprise-level, SAFEnet® Integrated Security and Systems Management solution. The iTRUST access control product is designed for security dealers who serve the small-to-midsize accounts between 2-and-64 doors and are looking to centralize their existing physical security infrastructure at a fraction of the cost of traditional access control products.

iTRUST Key Features

Enterprise-grade technology for entry-level systems
Unlimited scalability
Designed for 2-to-64 doors
Single desktop application
Easy installation and configuration
Affordable "QuickInstall" pricing packages
Exceptional warranty and support
Includes 8 workstation licenses
On the heels of this prestigious award, the company has also announced that the nation's 19th largest security company, Security Solutions, Inc. (SSI), has chosen to deploy the iTRUST small business solution for the City of Raleigh, North Carolina. SSI will install MDI's iTRUST and DDCII products at several municipal locations including the city's water treatment center.

"When evaluating entry-level access control products, we looked at many different market-leading solutions that offered system flexibility and expansion for growth," said Barry Simmons, President and CEO for SSI Inc. "What we liked about MDI's iTRUST solution was that its features and capabilities far outweighed the cost of the system, allowing us to provide our customers with fair and competitive pricing packages to meet their budget needs. iTRUST's limitless system expansion capabilities are sure to fit our customers' future growth and system requirements as their security needs expand."
