War is hell, Sherman said it first and any combat veteran would agree. But, sometimes its a necessary evil. Every casualty is a loss, believe me their buddies feel it more then you do. But, they go on. Nearly every person I have spoken too back from Iraq feels they are doing the right thing over there. Just the other day a fellow told me, XXX if you could just see how grateful the people are and the horrible suffering they are going through it would break your heart. If casualties bother you, suggest you look at the death rate in our CAPITAL. How about the DUI's deaths? How about the ERRORS in hospitals resulting in death of the patients. At least the people fighting for us in Iraq have a meaning in their lives and yes, a meaning in their deaths. I grieve for them, we all do, but we understand as do they why they are there. jdn You said it. War is a necessary evil and should only be promoted by a leader of a democratic nation when its in the absolute best interest of that nation. That is not the case with Iraq. The American public was mislead and to make matters worse, the war was poorly planned and Bush et al underestimated the enemy. Many of us knew that beforehand but he wouldn't listen. Now innocent Americans are dying because of the hubris and mendacity of a man and his ideology. You of all people should be angered by his disception. In any case, Americans are reaching the snapping point. When its finally reached, Mr. Bush will be sorry he wanted to be president..........or this democracy will die.
