My car was out of service for a week recently (long irritating story) and I had to rent a car. Got the cheapest sub-compact, a Dodge Neon. Damn thing got well over 30 MPG, at the end of the week it cost me $8.00 to fill it up before I turned it in. And, not a bad little car, got me from point A to point B just fine.

I don't think we should just incent hybrids, I think the policy should be technology agnostic. Incent everything that gets over 30 MPG (and dis-incent/tax everything that gets under 24 MPG, but that's another story).
