Oh, but then again, we knew we were in different places on the political spectrum... In 63, we too mourned Kennedy. It was just as breathtaking for me, to have our President killed, even if we didn't agree with him.

Nov 22, 1963 was every bit as stunning to us as it 9-11 was to us in a different day and time.

We did not want LBJ to win. People were so afraid of Goldwater. It seemed silly to us then, and does now. Republicans aren't the evil mean creatures you might think, John. Most of the Repubs are more in the middle, where the majority of Democrats USED to be. Now, the FarLeft Progressives seem to have taken over your party. Even you can not think that the Far Right has taken over the Repub party. Falwell and group, of the FLDS types haven't taken over.... If that ever happens, I'll be out on the picket lines as well.

"I thought his selection of Miller was very good, for the Dems."

I was out drinking with Bill Miller and others in the period leading up to the election.
We were in Hartsdale, New York and unfortunately Bill fell over backwards in his
chair. I think he had been overserved.
