Hehe, I bought into the government coddling, I got my CS degree - it looks very pretty hanging on my wall above my desk next to my mensa plaque and various IBM job related awards and chess trophies - but none of them are putting food in my mouth currently - they just collect dust, I go to sourceforge to still have some use and implement some things I think will be handy for civilization - and already 500 people are already doing thier own versions of my idea - so I just sit back - sip a little saki - play some yahoo pool/chess - chat it up with the great folks at SI and others. I moved to florida to do some surfing and go to NASA every so often - but it has become boring too. Sadly I must admit I have even fallen back into the rut of watching CNBC and trading stocks every so often - something I really wanted to avoid several years ago because I knew if I was doing that - I would be like the useless bud fox living off the buying and selling of others rather than creating anything anymore - hehe. If I thought I had it in me I would go back to get some biotech type education and try to find things to fight the hayflick limit and cell death stuff. Or perhaps furthering research on pebble bed nuclear type stuff - but not much else would interest me for the commitment required. I find myself returning to my roots, I actually am working out in the garden some and find myself longing for the days with grandpa when we worked the land - something else I thought I would never want to do when I was younger.

You know Elroy talks against capitalists, but if I didn't have some cash earning me some income right now I would have starved long ago I fear - hehe. I try to do my civic duty and allocate the wealth to where it will bring the greatest profit - all for the love of my fellow man you know.

My old buddy who got his CS masters from that silly college in illinois sends me programs to market for him - claiming all kinds of new expert systems algorithms and such and I send him to sourceforge and show him the FREE versions and ask him how do I market his for PAY product when there is FREE stuff out there - and he gets very upset with me and calls me negative thinker and such. Hehe. Last week he had this great expert system time scheduling program for factories that took into account all kinds of crazy variables - we had successfully sold it to several lumber mills all over the USA a decade back - this was a new improvement - used Kylix - I said does it have multi language support - he says what? I say you know all the factories are going to China, he said oh yah, thats right - oh well - HAHA - he cracks me up - what a funny guy. I say when are you going to learn chinese - he said he isn't - Uh! Quitters never win!

Anyways he does not program as much as he used too either - he spends a lot of time playing bridge - helping retirees navigate the net - and getting his daughter and her friends playing lots of chess at the local chess clubs he helps moderate. He is talking of getting into local politics now - what a way to wind up. I am going to try and travel some, before oil really gets too cost prohibitive - hehe. Next month I must go to atlanta and see the firefly folks at dragoncon - I want to make sure they are going to many international markets with thier show - the 3rd world kids should get the same chances as us right?
