energyplay Re: "gasoline shortage" Here in Florida there has been somewhat of a shortage all summer, and worse just lately. What you see is a gas station with half the pumps with paper sacks over the nozzles, then maybe a day or two later with no gas at all. I'm speaking of little inland communities though I have see it in Fort Myers too. Probably plenty of gas out on the interstate.

Florida may be a special case as up in the middle of the country there are pipelines; here all the gas must be trucked in.

Yesterday also had the experience of paying ten bucks to fill up a motorcycle; and this being a 32 year old 650cc with the small "sport" tank.

There's a guest on Bloomberg right now (Paul somebody, mid-cap guy) who was asked that very question...his answer was basically it was a sham.
