UH HUHH! HARUMPHHH! I BELIEVE I ALREADY ANSWERED THAT!
I quote myself:
"He was a bum outside the SF Convention Center making wisecracks at me as I headed for WESCON wearing a suit and tie and carrying a briefcase."

In those days (I don't know about now), it was customary to wear such attire to such events. WESCON was a large trade show. Something like that poor imitation held occasionally in Vegas. Except for the industry, not for mere consumers. :-)
