Hey, thanks to all for posting comments on this topic. Lot clear to me than a few days ago. Summary:

(1) DirecTV "dumping" its existing inventory of TiVo-provisioned DVRs manufactured by Hughes.

(2) As no surprise to me, breakup b/w DirecTV & TiVo is now official.

Further conclusions:

(1) Most HD DTV-TiVo customers will dump their existing, but wonderful HD DVRs for the new MPEG4 compatible HD DVR by NDS when released in early 2006. Just wondering how much control DTV will wield over their NDS boxes. This could a factor for some in their decision to keep or dump their existing HD DVR provisioned w/TiVo service.

(2) TiVo's future, does in-fact, rest with the MSO community. It remains to be seen whether TiVo can remain independent & how it will compete with manufacturers of other box makers who supply MSOs with their current DVRs (i.e. SFA, MOT, Sony).
