The Commission's report is the sacred foundation for how we are going to approach intelligence from now on to prevent another 9/11. That all sounds very noble, and I wish it were true, but I don't think that it is true. I am much more cynical about the purpose of that commission. Job #1 was to cover everyone's asses, Republican and Democrat alike, and find no significant fault anywhere. Rather like the Department of Homeland Security and going through all of the hoopla now associated with getting on an airplane: lots of sizzle but little steak.
