As I strongly dislike the guy, I love seeing him hang himself with own stubborn hubris. I'm sure his aides pointed out early on that he could have turned this to his advantage by showing some compassion and totally disarmed Mrs. Sheehan. Instead, he's elevated her to national aggrevied heroine, and turned her protest into a growing embarasment and national event. People from all over the country are heading for Crawford.

He should have asked himself, "What would Clinton do?"

IMO, I would be bitterly disappointed if Bush were forced to give her a second meeting. However, I would not be surprised if he did meet with her on his own terms. I think he needs to figure out a way to make sure the meeting will have a positive spin. There is no way I would expect him to meet with a person that challenges their character and calls them a liar.

No, he would only have to meet with one person who is his worst nightmare -- somebody who is not afraid to say "you are full of shit when you say that the best way to honor my dead son is to continue the war you dragged us into to fulfill your own fantasies".
