It appears John was sailing calm waters, so he probably had his PFD close by. Have you ever trained in The Pig? We provided that training for our crews that flew off the Maritime Maid, ( maritimehelicopters.com ) but I was unable to schedule my own training. It was supposed to simulate escape from a crashed aircraft under water. When I lived in Juneau, I had my boat surveyed by a retired Coast Guard Officer.
