re: I was listening to his speech/pronouncements from Crawford yesterday..........and you know how much I like listening to him; almost reflexively I want to revisit my meal from earlier in the day; and I realized they really don't have a clue about anything and really don't care one iota about anyone. It's funny, that realization is what did in Papa Bush. Rove has trained Bush to look sympathetic to Joe Six Pack and his family... but in the end they just don't care. It's a family trait. I don't disagree. It seems Prescott Bush was very similar in makeup. I wonder if Bush isnt just a reflection of America. You have suggested that Americans have gotten more shallow.....and he fits that bill perfectly. And I am not sure it started with the Bushs. The other nite I saw R. Reagan Jr. on the tube. Now, he's a liberal living in Seattle with very similar views to mine.............I am probably closer to him politically than to you........so it should be a natural for me to like him. Wrong! I have always felt very uncomfortable around him. The other nite I suddenly realized maybe why that is.........I think the guy is really, really angry, And then it struck me that maybe his liberal views are a way of getting back at his father. I remembered reading once that Reagan's kids were jealous of his relationship with Nancy and felt excluded. That might explain RR Jr.'s anger. And then it hit me........how more shallow can you get than shorting your kids of love because you want to bestow those feelings onto your significant other. And yet many Americans think Reagan is the best thing since ice cream. ted
