A science education is a good thing; the math, physics, applied stuff, all of it. Especially if the instructors are good. But I'm not so sure about undergrad liberal arts education, if its worth a damn for anything or not. I did a few quarters in one of those places and frankly think it was mostly a waste. I did get some practice with composition but many of the courses, psych, sociology, political science, ect. were a waste. It seems to me that the instructors were promoting a "belief system" rather than helping you learn how to think, which should have been the objective. I know that advanced courses can be altogether different. But science and engineering, it is all good.
