Amid reports that the Ford plant in St. Paul will close, a state official said Friday that Gov. Tim Pawlenty will continue to push a plan to revamp the facility. Citing unnamed sources, the Wall Street Journal reported in its Friday edition that Ford Motor Co. is likely to close five assembly plants, including one in the Highland Park neighborhood of St. Paul. On Thursday, Pawlenty sent Ford officials a letter, asking that the St. Paul facility be converted into one for making renewable-energy vehicles.
