It was a woman that brought me out of it - Indira Gandhi! Yeah, right.. And she told me about Pathological Liars Anonymous. Oh, you'd be surprised how many famous people belong. In fact.. at one of the meetings I met my wife - Morgan Fairchild! Yes, I'm a change man now, and all because of Pathological Liars Anonymous. Why, I - I even have my picture on the cover of Newsweek magazine. Yeah. Every day! Yeah.. that's the ticket! Yeah, you betcha!

I don't know what is actually meant by the term "vacant houses", but if it means available rentals, we certainly have a peak in that out here (N CA), along with falling rents, while at the same time the housing market to buy has not been affected according to the press. 12 years ago, you could easily buy a house here, lots of availability... but you COULD NOT rent. It was impossible to find a rental. Very strange, I don't know how to read it myself.

You're probably referring to the quarterly Department of Commerce report. It shows that more than two-thirds of the new homes are renter-occupied. These numbers are the polar opposite of historical norms of just a couple of years ago. I think it's quite likely that many of these investors may be falsifying the occupancy status of their homes in order to qualify for loans.
