Moo, I am no finance guru, but how many got super rich playing BRE-X? HAHA I watch that one blow up a lot of silicon investors a decade back. I hear the guy on crapping in your wallet say he bought 1 million in gold - the guy I think me and slagle feel is the smartest of the bunch - hoenig.

I love your thunder god comment - so true - we have the best MINDS in the world in this country working on things - good or bad - they are here. You came here no? Hehe I think things will muddle through mauldin style.

Slagle and others confuse me, if the world was about to blow up, and protectionism about to take over - I definitely would not be investing overseas from my home country. Robert Trigaux - he is a finance man in tampa that writes for the st pete times, I had asked him about investing in Jays Phoenix Fund a ways back - he told me Shades - if you were Jay in that country it makes sense - but you are an american, and all that foreign stuff - the gubbment will find some way to take the money away from you - so just buy american and be happy. hehe

Prescott Bush invested overseas in Germany in his day - didn't the gubbment come in and take all his winnings?

Why would I send all my money to miners in south america, or factories in china so that if/when things blow up - the gubbment of those nations come in and take my winnings and assets? Who did well in the 20's - 30's? The people that invested internationally during that globalisation spurt - or the guys that bought for the home team?

Moominoid Re: "conspiracy" I do believe there is plenty of reasons to believe that Reagan/Bush really did use the "oil weapon" to destroy the USSR, along with a number of other cleverly crafted efforts. I doubt the whole story will ever be known. If you just think about it, that was a pretty fantastic accomplishment. Now could something similar be underway again? It is surely possible.

If you watch closely you sometimes catch little glimpses of what might be going on behind the curtain. One of the most interesting in this last war was the mad dash eve of the war emergency trip that President Gloria Arroyo of the Philippines made to visit the Emir of Kuwait.

The higher the price of oil goes the greater the likelyhood that not is all as it seems. <g>
