That sounds wonderful! I have done sugared almonds-- just melted the sugar in a nonstick little pan til it melts and then tossed the sliced almonds in it. But I like the more complex taste of yours-- even though it's more work! Have dinner party coming up and am going to try it.
Thanks!

I am posting this as my contribution to the advancement of mankind.
The Candied Walnuts were so good that I believe they could save the world.

People went nuts over them (oh excuse me, that really was unintentional). I left them on the kitchen island when people were first arriving and people thought they were a pre-dinner snack and then kept sneaking back to the kitchen looking for them. I put a bowl of them on the dining room table in case people wanted to add more to their salads, and after a few minutes, no one bothered to pretend they were using them for their salads. People wanted candied nut doggy bags when they left. Men ordered their women to get the recipe.
And this is a BONUS!
If you lean over the skillet while they are saute-ing, the balsamic vinegar clears your sinuses.
Really.
A gift from the culinary gods.
